I have a concreting project on the Surf Coast, can you help?
Yes we can. Geelong Concrete Construction offers all its Geelong concreting services, including concrete benchtops, to customers in and around Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast. Contact us today.
Is it possible to prevent concrete from cracking?
While Geelong Concrete Construction can provide no 100-per-cent guarantee that concrete slabs, footpaths or driveways won’t suffer cosmetic damage, we do everything we can to minimise the chances of that happening. We use only premium materials in our concreting services and with more than 20 years of combined concreting experience, we employ the best methods when it comes to cutting control joints in the correct locations.
How long until I should drive on my new concrete driveway?
You should leave new concrete to cure for one to two weeks before driving vehicles on the surface. If cars drive on newly laid concrete driveways too soon, it is likely to suffer cracking and damage.
What are the common reasons behind cracked concrete footpaths, driveways or slabs?
When concrete cracks occur without an obvious reason it is understandable that owners will question why, and potentially blame the product or workmanship. But, there can be some common factors that cause random concrete cracking, such as overloading the surface with more weight than it is designed to support. Other explanations could be soil or earth movement surrounding the slab or drying shrinkage of the concrete in a restrained manner. Drainage issues can also cause concrete to crack due to increased moisture.
